What Happened When You Got Saved

INTRO
Something happened that goes way beyond emotional experience. Something more powerful happened that you may never have felt. Based on the truth of the Word
—This is what we stand on (Eph. 6:14)
Married couples become "one flesh" (Gen. 2:24)
People who are saved become "one spirit’ with God (1 Cor 6:17)
I. REDEEMED (To Buy back by Ramson, Release ) (Psa 107:2)
- From Bondage to Freedom -
1. Means “full release” because of a payment of a ransom price
•Jesus had to give his life as a ransom for humanity (Mat. 20:28)
•We are no longer under Satan’s custody (Acts 26:18)
•The ransom price was required by, and offered to God (Isa. 53:10)
II. RECONCILED (to bring into fellowship)
- From Enemy to Friend -
a. Enemies by default (Psa 51:5)
b. Enemies by choice (Jam 4:4)
1. Our relationship with God has been changed from a state of enmity
to one of fellowship (Rom. 5:10)
a. No longer strangers, but family (Eph 2:19)
2. You are holy, blameless, & above reproach (Col 1:20-22)
3. We are now the righteousness of Christ (2 Cor 5:19-21)
III. ACQUITTED (Propitiation - to appease - Atonement) (1 Jn 2:1-2)
- From Judgement to Justification (Rom 5:1) -
1. The charges against you have been dropped (Col 2:14)
2. “Mercy Seat” a type of Christ’s sacrificial work (Lev. 16:13-17)
3. God’s wrath has been turned away by the offering of Christ (Jn 3:36)
CONC. Because we are now saved:
1. We are Redeemed and no longer under the bondage of Satan.
2. We are Reconciled and no longer enemies of God.
3. We have been Acquitted and no longer under God’s judgment.
